Pros
- Classic series gameplay. This iteration of the series brings back gameplay that will delight nostalgic fans of the first games.
- Updated graphics. The PC port of this game has the potential to look much better than other versions or the original games it hopes to pay tribute to.
- Actual scary segments. True to the series' name, Revelations will make you jump.
Cons
- Keyboard control. To play this game traditionally, a usb controller is necessary.
- Framerate problems. Occasionally, a few frames will drop during particularly intense sections of the game.
- Control issues. Moving and shooting can present a few problems, especially when using a mouse and keyboard.
- Paid DLC. Unfortunately, extra content will cost a few extra dollars.
Resident Evil: Revelations is a newer addition to the classic survival horror series, returning to its roots to present more of the survival horror gameplay that the original games made popular. Instead of the run-and-gun shooting that has become so prevalent in recent Resident Evil games, Revelations aims to present survival as a puzzle to the gamer. Without easily accessible supplies, players must use their wits to get around the undead horrors that plague them. Revelations takes place between Resident Evil 4 and 5. As such, it features familiar characters such as Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine.
Players familiar with older Resident Evil games will immediately recognize the typical over-the-shoulder view. There is also an option that switches to a first person perspective. Finding the game's limited resources becomes easier in Revelations due to a new featured item, the Genesis.
If another player is present, two people can team up in Raid mode, an intense survival game mode where the two gamers face off against swarms of the undead. This version of Revelations is a PC port, which allows for HD graphics and additional content.
